John Potter

Portrait of Amélie Dupont

Growing up, John S. Potter was first exposed to life on stage, but he soon realized his true calling was behind the scenes, where he could help future Broadway stars shine. From a young age, he showed a strong creativity for developing new concepts and ideas. While growing up at a nonprofit performing arts organization, North Shore Dance & Theater (NSDT), John developed skills in scenery, props, lighting, and sound design.

During his time at Glenbrook South High School, John was an active member of the stage, lighting, and sound crews. In his senior year, he served as the head of the lighting crew. Glenbrook South High School has a highly regarded, active, and robust theatre program. They were recognized by the Illinois High School Musical Theatre Awards. Today, he continues to work in all backstage areas, including sound and lighting, for NSDT productions. He also lends his expertise in sound, lighting, and recording to Glenview United Methodist Church.

John is currently pursuing a double major in Technical Theater and Business at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. During academic breaks, he returns home to work with NSDT and Glenview United Methodist Church, where he volunteers his time to help his childhood community and continues to expand his skill set.
